Tyra is a once in lifetime dog. She oozes "sweetness" and attracts attention where ever
she goes. Always wearing her "Aren't I cute?" look, she never got into trouble as a puppy and has
grown into quite the young lady.
In January of 2000,we traveled to the Minnesota Malamute Specialty in Minneapolis to show
Tyson and decided to enter Tyra for the two Land'O'Lakes shows (she wasn't old enough for the
Specialty!) We were pleasantly surprised by her performance in the ring (she showed like a pro)
and received a Reserve to a four point major! Not bad for a junior puppy!
At eight months of age, Tyra made her Canadian debut and again exceeded all our expectations.
She earned 4 points towards her championship, two Best of Opposites over a Special, and a Best Puppy
in Show! We were sitting on cloud 9! We took her home to plan her next shows and she promptly
blew coat and ended her puppy show career right then and there.
Well, with a brand new coat and a couple months of summer holidays, we decided it was time
to get her out once again. We traveled to the Working Alaskan Malamute Club of Manitoba Specialty
held in conjunction with the Fort Garry Kennel Club dog show in October of 2000. Tyra once again
won her class at the Specialty and then went on to take Winners Bitch all four days at the regular
show and a Best of Winners. Much to our dismay, she ended up sitting on the dreaded "9" point
curse. One more to go! |

Tyra then (18 wks). |

Guarding camp at the lake. She won't admit we caught her sleeping on the job! |

At the lake; naked and lovin' it! (2 yrs. old) |

We no sooner unpacked the truck when it was time to once again get back on the road and
travel the 30 hours to the US Nationals in Wisconsin. Yes, you read it right - 30 hours! Some might
tend to think we're absolutely nuts and I tend to agree with them. But, boy was the trip worth it!
Tyra placed first in the 12-18 month class at the Chicagoland Specialty and at the Great Lakes
Regional Specialty. At the National, she took first place in the 15-18 month Grand Futurity
class, and first place in the 15-18 month Sweepstakes, then went on to take Best Senior
Graduate. Her undefeated streak ended when she received a third place in the regular 12-18
month class, but we were so thrilled with how well she did all week, nothing could bring us
down. Are we ever proud of this little girl! |

2001 was a year to enjoy sledding during the winter and swimming during the summer. We
did, however, travel to Minnetonka, MN for the US Nationals. Tyra again exceeded all our
expectations by winning over a very large open bitch class and taking Reserve Winners Bitch not
only at the Regional Specialty, but also at the National!
After taking some time off to become a mom; Tyra was ready to get back into the show ring.
Her very first time back in the ring in almost a year; Tyra finished her Canadian championship and
the next day took her first Best of Breed her first time out as a Special.
2003 started off with a bang! We travelled back to the Minnesota Specialty where her show
career first began. Tyra took Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 5 point major, then repeated
the Winners Bitch win again two days later for a 3 point major. We are well on our way to
obtaining that American Championship!
Tyra rounded out her 2003 year with a Group 1st under breeder/judge Mr. Alan Bennett
at the Mid Canada Dog Association show in May. |

Tyra returned to the United States in May of 2004, starting off with a
disappointing Reserve the first day at the Fargo-Moorhead Kennel Club show, but
returning with a vengeance the following day with Best of Breed and a Group 3rd!
The final day repeated her Best of Breed win to finish off the VERY wet weekend
with a total of fourteen points and four majors. Only one more point to go! |
